Your Own, Personal Question List

Our goal, with this essay, is to clarify.

To clarify what?

A simple practice.

You can use this simple practice to understand, and then act from, your natural curiosity.

Or, at least, that’s the idea.

Right before we dive in, there is one thing to note.

The practice you are about to discover did not originate within my imagination.

Rather, this practice comes from “How To Think Like Da Vinci,” a wonderful book by Michael J. Gelb.

So, with that in mind, let’s begin!

A Simple Practice

Our simple practice is as follows: give yourself twenty minutes, give or take, to make a list.

A list of questions.

Every single one of these questions must be a question that you are genuinely interested in exploring.

Just as an example, if you are interested in living in Shanghai, one of your questions might be “What is it like to live in Shanghai; to build a good life there?”

And so on and so forth.

Come up with as many questions as you like.

No matter what, though, make sure these are questions that genuinely captivate you.

Right after you make this list, there are two things you must do.

Making Use Of A Simple Practice

The two things you must do, right after making your list, are as follows:

  • Select a few questions to explore, and enjoy, within the next few days/week.
  • Go over the list and think about the interests/passions that appear the most often.

Regarding the first point, if you would like to live in Shanghai, give yourself some time to research the city, its history, what it is like living there; and so on and so forth.

If you do this, you will enrich your mind, engage with your interests, nurture your passions; and so on and so forth.

You will move closer to — and actively live, in fact — a rich, abundant life.

A life that is truly aligned with your deepest, most rapturous, delights.

The second point serves a similar purpose.

Just consider the interests/passions that appear most often.

If many of your questions center on travel, then this is a sign.

A sign that you should nurture, and explore, this interest/passion.

Or, if nothing else, a sign that this is a deep passion/interest of yours and that, therefore, it is something to nurture.

You can also, if you want to dive deeper, outline a new list of questions, each one centered on that interest/passion.

Conclusion

Just to wrap this up, if your experience is anything like mine, using this practice creates a wealth of possibilities.
