Walking As A Source Of Limitless Creativity — Part 02

The second part of our “Walking As A Source Of Limitless Creativity” essay series is dedicated to a single practice.

A single practice that requires more concentration than the practice outlined in the first part.

But, this is not a serious, taxing form of concentration.

Rather, the form of concentration that we speak of is a “playful” form of concentration.

Playful concentration, you might say.

And, this playful concentration must, as per this practice, be coupled with receptivity.

But, let’s not clarify this within the introduction; let’s begin the essay!

A Playful Concentration

Right now, within this moment, there may be ideas that fascinate you.

Or, perhaps, there may be intentions and goals that fascinate you.

You can also extrapolate this basic line of thought to the following:

  • Concepts
  • Notions
  • Paracosms
  • Fascinations
  • Passions
  • Interests
  • Musings
  • Quotes
  • Themes
  • Moments

And so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.

Our concern is not with what fascinates you but, rather, the fact that it fascinates you.

No matter what it is that fascinates you, make a choice.

A choice to concentrate on what fascinates you.

To concentrate on what fascinates you, through the medium of your attention.

Or, more specifically, your thoughts, as mediated by your attention.

And, when you make this choice, you can begin walking.

Go On A Walk

Right after you make a choice to concentrate on what fascinates you, you can go on a walk.

All throughout this walk, playfully guide your thoughts to what you have chosen to concentrate on.

None of this needs to be deliberate or forceful; it can be a gentle, pleasant motion that allows you to think on what you have chosen, while existing within the unending gifts of our world.

And, as you concentrate on what fascinates you, make a choice to notice.

To notice what lies around you. To notice what surrounds you. To notice what enchants you.

All of this can exist alongside — and, even, within — the act of playfully concentrating on what fascinates you.

You may find that a wealth of new ideas and possibilities arise.

Or, you may find that very little arises.

No matter what you find, choose to accept it.

To accept it as something of significance.

Something of significance and something of value.

All of this serves your greater aims.

Your greater creative aims, that is to say.

And, even if nothing arises, your greater creative aims have been served.

You see, the mere act of concentrating and noticing serves to produce movement.

A kind of inner movement, as it were, that allows what you seek, even if it is unknown, to arise.

To arise in the moments that occur during the walk and right after the walk; among other such things.

Just know that, in concentrating and noticing, what you truly desire, even if it is unclear, will arise.

And, as such, walk in the knowing that this is true, allowing yourself to playfully concentrate and notice, as you exist within the unending gifts of our world.

Conclusion

The specifics of this practice are slightly less clear than the specifics of the practice outlined in the first part.

But, no matter what, my hope is that this practice serves you.

Serves you and your creative aims.

But, even if it doesn’t — and, you have my apologies, if it doesn’t — thank you so much for reading this essay!
