The Universe Will Open Doors For You
My thoughts on the Divine, Source, and the Universe are complex.
A part of me believes, on some level, that our innate creative power is the source of our lives.
And, yet, another part of me believes — or, perhaps, knows, on an intuitive level — that this is not true.
Rather, we, as human beings, exist within forces that are far greater than we know.
You might call one of these forces — the central force, perhaps — the “Universe.”
Our goal, with this essay, is to clarify our connection to the Universe, in matters of taking action and, in turn, living the life that we truly wish to live.
The Universe Will Open Doors For You
One of my favorite quotes is Joseph Campbell’s “Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors where there were only walls.”
My favorite part of this quote is the part about the Universe opening doors where, previously, there were only walls.
To me, this quote highlights an important truth of our existence: the act of moving forward with a goal or vision that excites and compels us is a fundamentally creative act.
A fundamentally creative act that allows new possibilities to arise with ease.
To illustrate this, please allow me to share a story from my life.
Just two-weeks ago, a thought came to me, “It’s time to live a more adventurous life.”
And, to accomplish this task, my first thought was to make a list of adventures to go on.
Right after making this list, I made a choice to go on one.
My first adventure was walking to the Old Market and, then, the Art Market, within Siem Reap.
During this walk, I met a tuk-tuk driver who made me an offer I couldn’t refuse: a tour of the different Wat Pagodas within Siem Reap.
And, so, I accepted that offer, even though I was slightly reluctant to, at first.
Soon after accepting this offer, two more adventures opened up:
- A free trip to Phnom Krom.
- A trip to the Angkor Wildlife & Aquarium; a beautiful zoo and aquarium.
- A free trip to the Phare Circus.
Each one of these adventures was an absolute gift.
Some might say that these adventures would’ve arisen no matter what. But, even so, the act of choosing to go on more adventures, and then actually doing so, seemed to allow a wealth of new possibilities to arise with ease.
To obtain the truth of this notion, though, we must experiment with it.
And, to experiment with it, we must set an intention and take the first step, allowing us to see what happens.
You Can Take The First Step
Right now, you may possess goals, visions, dreams, desires; and so on and so forth.
Give yourself a moment to select one of them.
Select one of them and, then, if you can, come up with five ways you can begin it.
Your ideas may seem silly, but allow yourself to come up with them.
And, when you find one that seems good — something tangible and accessible, yet powerful — make a choice.
A choice that allows you to begin this action and to move forward with what you yearn for.
Soon after you make this choice, allow yourself to notice.
To notice what you feel within and what arises within you.
You may find yourself led to new choices and opportunities.
Or, you may find new choices and opportunities flowing to you.
No matter what, though, something will happen.
Something special will happen.
And, the “something special,” in question, will aid you in living the life you truly wish to live.
Conclusion
To those who read this essay — and, really, to those who haven’t — thank you so much!
Some of the ideas within this essay are not clarified as well as they could be. But, writing this essay was fun and the central idea — that the Universe will open doors for you, if you take the first step — is very powerful.
My hope is that you explore this idea and, in doing so, are met with success.
