The Truth Of Inspiration

The dictionary defines inspiration as “the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative”.

Even though that definition is, from my perspective, quite lacking, I think it will suffice.

Everyone is familiar with inspiration. There is no other feeling quite like it. The fruits of inspiration are unlike the fruits of any other feelings.

When we are inspired, we are able to take even the most seemingly impossible visions and, within the state of inspiration, we are able to actualize those visions with an ease that, when we look back at our accomplishment, seems almost surreal.

Inspiration is, of course, fleeting. As a state of being, it comes and goes, seemingly at random. There are moments of great inspiration, and these moments are often preceded by moments of relative uninspired action and, depending on who you ask, stagnation.

But, of course, it doesn’t need to be this way.

Rather, we possess the ability to evoke the feeling of inspiration within ourselves at any time. Through the act of evoking the feeling of inspiration, we are able to walk and act from inspiration with great ease and exceptional poise.

The Power Of “I Am”

Just about every great work of New Thought literature focuses, in one way or another, on two very special words; “I Am”.

Some would say that those two words — “I Am” — are among the most powerful words that we can use.

Everytime we use the words “I Am”, we engage in a creative act. A creative act that, at the time, may appear to be lacking in power or force. But, in truth, the creative act of using “I Am” is one of the most powerful creative acts that we, as human beings, can engage in.

Everytime we use the words “I Am”, we are conditioning ourselves.

Through the act of conditioning ourselves, we define our limitations, abilities, strengths, weaknesses, qualities; and so on and so forth.

More often than not, it seems, we — and, really, by “we” I just mean “me”, since that’s the only person I can speak on with authority — condition ourselves in ways that lead to profound limitations and restriction.

But, of course, it doesn’t need to be this way. Rather, we can use the words “I Am” to define ourselves as beings of extraordinary power with extraordinary gifts. By making use of the words “I Am” in that context, we can elevate ourselves to greater and greater heights, allowing ourselves to live the life that we are meant to live.

Inspiration, of course, goes hand-in-hand with living the greatest and most fulfilling life that we can live.

To live a truly great life, we must be inspired to create, to expand, to move forward, and to truly live in ways that are authentic.

“I Am Inspired” & “I Am Inspiration”

The power of “I Am” is extraordinary. By making use of those two little words, you are able to define yourself in any way that you desire.

One of the most beneficial ways that you can define yourself is through using the words “I Am Inspired”.

By making use of those three words, you affirm the fact that you are inspired, that inspiration is coursing through you, and you allow your creativity to move through channels that allow your gifts and abilities to come through in the loveliest of ways.

Because of this, I find that using the words “I Am Inspired”, as often as I can, is just so powerful and so useful.

But, the interesting thing is, there is another, very similar, statement that may be even more beneficial.

The statement that I am referring to is that of “I Am Inspiration”.

Rather than affirming that you are inspired — that the force of inspiration is moving through you and within you — you affirm that you are, in fact, the source of inspiration.

You are the source of inspiration. Inspiration may come through you, but it, above all else, comes from within you.

By affirming that you are the force of inspiration itself, you engage with one of nature’s most valuable truths: that which you seek comes from within.

Regardless of what you are seeking to create and experience — whether it’s wealth, inspiration, creativity, love; ad infinitum — it must come from within.

The ways in which the things that we seek “come from within”, as it were, tend to differ from person-to-person.

No matter what, though, if we understand that we create what we are seeking, then we will never be lost, alone, or hungry, for we understand the truth of inspiration.

The truth of inspiration is, therefore, that what we seek can only be found within ourselves.
