The Infinite Jungle Of Knowledge
Our essay is centered on a vision.
A vision of infinity.
Or, more specifically, a vision of infinite knowledge.
A Vision Of Knowledge
Knowledge is infinite.
Let’s just get that out of the way.
You can learn as many things as you can. And, in doing so, an infinite amount of knowledge will remain.
But, what, exactly, is knowledge?
According to Google, “knowledge” is: facts, information, and skills acquired through experience or education; the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject.
On its own, that definition is fine. But, there is more to it than that: knowledge is the things we can learn, the things we can know, and the things we can experience.
You can go deeper. But, if you ask me, that definition is fine.
If you learn an infinite number of things, know an infinite number of things, and experience an infinite number of things, an infinite wealth of knowledge will still remain.
And, within the notion outlined above, there is another: no matter what you do, make, find, or create — ad infinitum, of course — the knowledge that comprises our universe has no endings, limits, boundaries, or conclusions.
A rather fun thought, if you ask me.
The Infinite Jungle
Close your eyes and imagine a jungle.
A vast jungle.
A vast jungle seen from a top-down perspective.
You can see the trees, grass, and rivers. But, it’s as if you’re looking at a map.
A really, really detailed map; sort of like Google Earth but even more rich, vivid, and detailed than that.
Do you have the image in your mind?
Great!
Right within the vast jungle you have just conjured, imagine a single speck of light sitting near the center.
The single speck of light you have just imagined takes up a few trees, maybe a bit of grass, as well as some water.
Or, well, it can take up anything you want; this is your vision.
Regardless of that little piece of the puzzle, though, this single speck serves as a point.
A point that encompasses all of the knowledge we have as a global consciousness.
Just beyond this speck, there is an infinite jungle.
We may have a lot of knowledge. But, infinity is considerably bigger than “a lot.”
No matter how much this tiny little speck expands, we will never, ever encompass the entirety of the jungle.
Infinities Within Infinities
Our final section is centered on a few disparate visions of infinity.
Each one of these visions is centered on the infinitude of our jungle.
Our jungle of knowledge.
Just to start off, our first vision is that you can go through an infinite wealth of vast, unending, topics, subjects, and themes — ad infinitum — every single second, across 180 trillion bodies of transcendent eternities.
And so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
If you do the above, you will, of course, never find, reach, or make — ad infinitum — any endings, limits, or boundaries to the infinite knowledge that is our jungle.
Yet another vision is that there are an infinite number of topics, subjects, themes — ad infinitum — to explore and engage with, among an infinite wealth of other possibilities.
If you go through those for an unending wealth of eternities, you will never reach, find, or make any endings, limits, or boundaries; ad infinitum.
Just after that, we have another vision: there are an infinite wealth of different inventions to make, ideas to produce, fields of inquiry/exploration/science to make and use.
And so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
You can keep growing and going. And, no matter what, infinity is what remains right right here and right now.
