The Evocation Of Words

Our intention, with this essay, is sharing.

Sharing what?

Just three words that really mean something to me.

Right before we go over those words, we must clarify the thesis of this essay.

The Power Of A Single Word

A single word is an evocation.

Or, more specifically, it can be.

Right within a single word, there are all sorts of feelings.

Feelings. Emotions. Sensations.

And so on and so forth.

Just as an example, the word “basement” conjures visions of beautiful, if rather murky, spaces buried within the depths of elaborate structures constructed from the fruits of our Earth and the dreams of Man.

Or, at least, something like that.

The evocation above guides me to all manner of other thoughts.

Other thoughts. Other ideas. Other possibilities.

And so on and so forth.

All of this is buried within a single word.

A single word can be, and often is, a doorway to something.

The “something,” in question, is a network of interests, passions, and fascinations.

All of which enriches our experience of the world.

Or, at the very least, our experience of the creativity, passion, and love that we truly, truly are.

To further understand this notion, you can find three words right below.

All three of these words evoke something very, very special within me.

Word 01: Investing

Our first word is “investing.”

The definition of “investing” is “to devote one’s time, effort, or energy into a particular undertaking with the expectation of a worthwhile result.

On its own, this definition is fine.

But, to me, “investing” is far more.

Rather, across the past four years or so, investing has become a vast, infinite concept.

A vast, infinite concept rooted within doing, making, and being.

And so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.

Regardless of those notions, here are seven things that “investing” evokes within me:

  1. The infinite range of things we can do, make, become; ad infinitum.
  2. The unending abundance of experiments we can conduct, enjoy, dive into; ad infinitum.
  3. The ways in which a simple idea can encompass, and grow beyond, infinity.
  4. The tools we can use to find/make these simple, but infinitely vast, ideas.
  5. The manner in which a single idea can encompass everything.
  6. The infinite vastness of ideas and, in turn, their relation to the Universe.
  7. The moments in which new ideas are born within me.

And so on and so forth.

Word 02: Exploration

Our second word is “exploration.”

The definition of “exploration” is “the action of exploring an unfamiliar area.”

On its own, this definition is sufficient.

And, yet, exploration is far more than what is found within that definition.

Exploration is discovery, play, magic, enchantment, learning, transcendence, growth, evolution, and becoming.

And so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.

Regardless of those definitions, here are seven things that “exploration” evokes within my deepest depths:

  1. A deep sense of the Universe as an infinite sea of magic, adventure, play, creativity, novelty, and possibility.
  2. Visiting fantastical worlds and hidden kingdoms.
  3. Wandering within the depths of forgotten underwater lands.
  4. Traversing lands and realms lost to time, memory, and dream.
  5. A neverending world of ideas, concepts, notions — ad infinitum — greater than that which I know.
  6. The infinite possibilities of technology, imagination, and creativity; transcending all known limits.
  7. Right now, within this moment, there are endless adventures, quests, journeys — ad infinitum — we can enjoy.

And so on and so forth.

Exploration is the acceptance, and surrender to, the infinite magic of our Universe.

Word 03: Information

Our third word is “information.”

The definition of “information” is…

Even though that definition is sufficient, “information” comes with many, many other definitions.

Just as an example, “information is data, with meaning.”

Or, alternatively, “information is something that is conveyed or represented by an arrangement of things.”

And so on and so forth.

On another level, information is anything. And, also, everything.

Seriously.

Anything can be information. And, everything is information.

Even the deepest, most fundamental, building blocks of our Universe can be, and often are, turned into information.

On another level, though, they could be considered information.

Pure information.

All things are information.

Or, at least, that is one perspective.

Regardless of that, though, here are seven things that “information” evokes, within my very depths:

  1. The ways in which all things can be, and may truly be, information. But, also, mathematics and numbers and language and music and perception and sense; ad infinitum. All things are one, very beautiful, thing.
  2. Systems that store, and create, vast quantities of information; hard drives and DNA storage systems and liquid data crystals.
  3. The sheer abundance of information within our Universe. Endless things to learn and explore and dive into and research; and so on and so forth.
  4. All of the wonderful, truly delightful, books, essays, articles, stories — and so on and so forth — just waiting to be read, enjoyed, and known.
  5. The infinite possibilities and potentials — ad infinitum — of language, writing, words, sentences, poetry; and so on and so forth.
  6. Different mediums and forms of information, such as ideas, mathematics, numbers, words, sights, sounds, tastes; and so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
  7. The fact that information is constantly growing, evolving, and reshaping itself. There is so much more information available to us now then there was 20 years ago. And, this will continue.

And so on and so forth.

Conclusion

A single word can evoke so much within us.

If nothing else, that’s a lovely thing.

My hope is that you are able to find the words that evoke so much within you.

Regardless of that, though, have a beautiful day!
