The Creative Inspiration Of Innerconnectivity

The essay you are about to read is messy.

Coherent, but messy.

A number of ideas are explored, none of them with much depth or precision.

Even so, though, my hope is that this essay sparks your imagination, gives you some fun ideas to think about, and serves as, if nothing else, a vaguely enjoyable read.

As always, thank you so much for reading!

Indra’s Net

A Vedic deva, by the name of Indra, lives in a magnificent palace located on Mount Meru.

Right above this palace, there stands a vast network of cords.

A vast network of cords that is so vast, it is vaster than vast; the network of cords is infinite.

Each cord connects to another cord, and so on and so forth, ad infinitum.

Every single cord contains, within itself, a single gleaming jewel.

Glance into any cord within the network and, in doing so, you will see every other jewel contained within the vast network of cords.

Every cord serves as both a single, unique cord, and as a literal reflection of the infinite cords that exist within the net.

The network of cords is known as “Indra’s Net”; a concept that exists within Mahayana Buddhism and Hinduism.

You can find several interpretations of Indra’s Net.

But, the most common interpretation is that Indra’s Net serves as a metaphor for a single concept: interconnectivity.

Everything that exists is connected to everything else.

You can interpret this statement literally.

On a literal level, the assumptions, ideas, tools, and mechanisms we rely upon, in our day-to-day-life, originate from the innumerable facets contained within this vast and infinite universe.

Right now, I am writing this essay on a computer. This computer is related to, in many ways, every single computer that has ever existed. But, it’s also the byproduct of the scientific method, the innumerable discoveries emanating from the method and its history, rich understandings and assumptions pertaining to our world, universal forces that allow computers to operate the way they operate, old economic systems and assumptions that animate our engagement with the world; and so on and so forth, ad infinitum.

My apologies if that example appears convoluted and nonsensical.

The connections that link one thing to everything else are, in my experience, truly psychedelic.

A Vast & Infinite Web Of Connections

The truth of interconnectivity can spark the imagination and inspire creativity.

For many, that’s the most notable purpose these concepts serve: creative inspiration.

But, creative inspiration is no vain, weak thing.

Rather, creative inspiration is a channel for passion, love, abundance, joy, and bliss to come through.

A channel that serves as a vessel for a particular end, as well as the end itself.

For creativity is rewarding, in and of itself.

The act of recognizing the infinite connections and possibilities within everything serves to enhance the inspiration within a particular moment.

Even more than that, this recognition allows us to understand what is possible, what can be created, and what we can become.

You are not bound to the singular or the finite.

You are free to play within the plural and the infinite.

Infinite Possibilities

You can play with the interconnected nature of our world.

Through your play, you can access a sea of concepts that can enrich your life in a limitless variety of ways.

For me, the byproduct of this play is often twofold; concepts that pertain to a particular set of questions being asked, as well as a new way of relating to the world.

Some of the concepts that arise refer to new essays to write, new ways of experiencing the world, new creative projects to begin, new ways of engaging with those creative projects, new ways of engaging with my creative abilities; and so on and so forth.

The possibilities are endless.

A new way of relating to the world arises from the aforementioned act of play.

A way of relating to the world that involves seeing one thing, and then seeing everything.

Just as an example, imagine taking a sip of water.

Imagine taking this sip of water, and understanding, on some level, what this sip of water truly represents.

A single sip of water represents so very much; the needs of your body, the mechanisms that brought the water to you, the knowledge required to make a glass to hold that water, the materials used to fashion the glass, the history of the various bodies of water the sip you just took emanates from, the history of our species and our collective need for water; and so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely.

So much exists within the simplest of actions, that there is always room for neverending creative exploration.

Through the act of engaging with this neverending creative exploration, you can enter a state of creative inspiration with ease.

For the connections and reflections contained within one thing — anything — are infinite. And, from this infinity, there exists infinite possibilities.

Infinite possibilities, contained within every facet of your experience, awaiting your creative play.

Conclusion

Thank you so much for reading this essay!

I’m sorry if the main ideas are confusing and unclear.

Even though I’m quite fond of these ideas, I can’t help but feel that they were explored rather poorly.

Since this is the case, at a later date, I would like to explore these ideas once more, with a greater emphasis on practical ways of living and being.

For now, though, this should serve as a decent-enough introduction to the concept of interconnectivity.

Best wishes, and have a great day!
