Simple Acts Create Great Results

Sometimes, the simplest ideas lead to the most valuable results. Too often, though, we ignore the simple ideas, for they appear too simple to offer the results we are looking for.

You will soon learn about one of the simplest, and most familiar, ideas out there. My hope, for you, is that you apply this simple idea and reap enormous fruits from its application.

Remember, the value of a practical idea is in its application, above all else. If the idea works for you, then it is valuable. If it does not, then it is not valuable to you, although it may be valuable to others.

A Simple Act

Right now, you may have skills you wish to learn, creative projects you wish to embark on, changes you wish to create, and visions you intend to actualize.

Take a moment to consider what it is that you want to do.

Are there any projects you would like to devote more time to? Are there any skills you would love to learn? Are there any big changes you want to make, that require some time to actualize?

No matter what it is that you want to do, you can do it. All you must do is set aside the time to do whatever it is that you want to do and, during the time you’ve set aside, actually do what you want to do.

Sure, that’s simple. Reductionist, perhaps. But, at the same time, it’s also the truth. No matter what you want to do, if you put in the time to do it, you’ll be able to do it.

The simplest, but most effective, act, then, is that of setting aside some time to do that which you would like to do.

You may live a busy life that is filled with obligations. You may not possess a great deal of free time. You may not be able to set aside the time needed to pursue what is most important to you.

None of those things is particularly pleasant or desirable. But, for now, they are okay, because setting aside even the smallest chunks of time is enough to create great results.

Just setting aside as little as 5-to-10-minutes, every single day, will create significant results in any pursuit.

The reason for this is that those little bits of time will build up. Soon enough, 5-minutes becomes 35-minutes, and then it becomes 70-minutes, and then 140-minutes; and so on and so forth.

Remember, the simplest acts — that of setting aside your time to work on something specific, being just one example — when put into practice, can create extraordinary results with tremendous ease.

Complete Concentration

Setting aside the time you need is the first, and most important, step of our “simple act”. But, there’s a second step to our simple act that enhances your experience, and ensures that the fruits of engaging in this act are significant.

The second step, in question, is that of shunning all distractions and directing every beam of your concentration on what it is that you are doing.

Let’s say that you enjoy making sample-based music, and would like to make more sample-based tracks. To accomplish this, you’ve chosen to set aside ten-minutes, every single day, just for this activity.

For you to create the greatest results, you must be completely engaged in your activity, during these ten-minutes.

Rather than moving your attention from the music to the myriad of distractions present in our day-to-day-lives, you must keep your attention focused on the task at hand.

Doing this is not always easy. But, if you persist, and continue to train your attention, it does not take long for ten-minutes to suddenly feel much longer — in the sense that you create more in a short period of time.

To prepare for the time you’ve set aside, it may help to accomplish any lingering tasks that will suck up your attention. As soon as you’ve done this, taking a few deep breaths will help relax your mind and body, ensuring that you can more easily concentrate on what you are working on.

Setting aside a little time, and concentrating on your activity during that time, is a surefire way to make great progress and create excellent results.

Conclusion

No matter what you would like to accomplish or create, the simple act of setting aside the time to do so will get you where you want to be.

All you must do is set that time aside, and concentrate on the task at hand during that time. By doing this, you will succeed, no matter what it is you wish to do.
