Knowing That Your Desire Is A Present Fact
If you want something, whatever that “something” may be, you can have it. All you must do is, within your Imagination, feel that it is a reality, and then persist in that assumption. If you can do that, then you can do anything.
Many people understand this truth. Just about everyone makes use of this truth every single day of their lives, even if they don’t consciously recognize it. But, while this truth is simple and immediately applicable, it often brings up a whole host of questions that are not always easy to ask and answer.
One of the most common questions that I, personally, have been asked is “How long should I imagine and feel it real for my desire?” That is a simple question, but the answer is a little complex, and very open-ended.
How Long Should You Feel Your Desire As A Reality?
The answer that I am about to share is informed by my experiences. For you, things may be very different, or they may be very similar. It is not my place to say. But, what I will say is that these experiences appear to be shared by others who have engaged in similar work.
Every single day, I take the time to imagine the things that I desire. Sometimes, these are simple desires, such as writing and publishing a good essay on Medium, and other times, they are more complex desires, such as living overseas in a particular country.
Since I imagine those desires — the exact desires depend on the day and what’s important — and feel them as a reality, I find that they gravitate towards me, taking form in ways that are both expected and unexpected.
Right before they take form within my life, though, I find that there is one particular feeling that I am overwhelmed by. More often than not, it is a subtle feeling, but this feeling transforms my entire perspective, and with it, the ways in which I am thinking, feeling, and engaging with the world around me.
The feeling that overwhelms me is that of certainty. Certainty that I desire has already been fulfilled. I may not see it, I may not be experiencing it at this exact moment, but I know that the desire has been fulfilled.
If you engage with your imagination on a consistent basis — preferably every day — and continue to feel your desires as being present realities, then they will become so.
Through the act of engaging with your imagination in such a manner, you will transform your consciousness. Through the act of transforming your consciousness, you will begin to assume that your desires are present facts.
When you are walking in the state of that assumption, then the world shifts as you have shifted. I cannot say how it will shift for you, but I can say new opportunities, unique occurrences, and peculiar ideas will come to you.
The reason for this is that you have felt your desire as a reality and, in doing so, changed your consciousness. Through the act of transforming your consciousness, the world shifts with you, so that it may align with what you hold inside.
When You Know That Your Desire Is A Fact, What Should You Do?
A few years ago, my goal was to move to Cambodia. To do that, I needed money. So, I imagined that I was in Cambodia, that I was having a great time there, and that the trip had been completely successful.
Everyday, for a period of time, I did this. As I imagined myself in Cambodia, I found myself writing out specific goals for the amount of money that I would need, what I wanted to bring, the kind of apartment that I wanted to live in; all of the little details that I knew would have a major effect on my overall experience.
The most important goal that I set was related to the amount of money I needed. By this point, I had already bought the plane ticket, but I didn’t have a lot of money for a successful move.
So, I set a goal, and as I was writing out this goal, I felt very confident that I was going to have this money and that I was set. The reason why I felt so confident was because I was imagining myself going online — I was working on UpWork, at the time — and finding new clients and new work.
Right after I was finished writing this goal, I knew that it was done and that I had the money that I needed. Then, just ten-minutes later, I heard from a client of mine that I had worked with several months ago. I had not heard from them since then, because I was unable to work on a project that they had assigned me to. This client offered me the job of writing a book on dieting, and I accepted right away because I knew that’s what I needed to do.
What I find so funny about that story is the fact that I imagined having to go out and find work to earn the money that I needed. But, I felt that I already had the money, even if I didn’t have it in front of me, so I didn’t care. Since I knew that I already had the money, the world immediately shifted and I didn’t have to look for work at all!
The key theme of this story is “surrender”. You may have a particular vision as to how your desire will come to be. You may want to take certain actions. But, it is not that vision, or those actions, that bring about your desire. Rather, it is the change in consciousness that produces the results.
If you feel the need to take action or to do something specific, then take action and do something specific. But, know that your desire has already been fulfilled, even if you can’t see it, and that it may very well come to be from a completely unexpected source.
The act of surrendering is, if you have felt your desire as a present fact with true intensity, one of complete naturalism. You simply “know” that it is done, and as such, you take the actions that you feel are necessary, and surrender to the inevitable fulfillment of your desire.
Is There Anything Else That You Should Do?
Beyond the act of surrendering, I recommend continuing to feel your desire as a reality every single day. By continuing to feel it real, you water your desire and allow the assumption to persist, ensuring that anxiety and fear do not uproot it.
There will come a time, though, when you no longer have the ability to feel your desire as a reality. The reason for this is that feeling it real is an imaginal act, but you no longer need to use your imagination — or, rather, that aspect of your imagination — since your desire has already been fulfilled.
