Imaginal Indulgence

4 min readMar 19, 2025

Our goal, with this essay, is sharing.

Sharing what?

A powerful idea that may be useful to you.

Your Imagination Is God

My initial goal with this Medium blog was to explore the work of Neville Goddard.

On some level, that goal persists.

The work of Nevillle Goddard is rooted in the following notion: your imagination is God.

All that you see, experience, and feel is, as per this notion, rooted in that which you imagine.

If you yearn for something, you must experience it within your imagination.

And, if you do so, you will attain, and enjoy, that which you yearn for.

You can use your imagination in an infinite number of unique ways, manners, styles; ad infinitum.

Doing so will help you attain the thing you yearn for.

Out of all the ways in which you can use your imagination, there is one that many people tend to underestimate.

“Imaginal indulgence.”

Going over what imaginal indulgence is, and by extension, how to employ it, will help you get what you desire.

On The Nature Of Imaginal Indulgence

Everything you desire can be imagined.

You can imagine what you desire in a manner that is detached, mundane, and boring.

Or, you can imagine what you desire in a manner that is sensuous, exciting, and indulgent.

No, those are not the only two ways to imagine what you desire. But, they are common manners of imagining.

Imaginal indulgence is imagining that which you desire in a manner that evokes something profound.

The “something profound” we speak of is nothing less, and nothing more, than pure pleasure.

Pure pleasure.

Or, in turn, a very pure form of pleasure that allows us to enjoy what we desire, as if it is a presence in our life.

If you can imagine what you desire, and enjoy its inherent pleasures right here/right now, it will come to you.

There is no need for a boring, rote, or dull imaginal act.

Pleasure can, and will, help you attain all that you yearn for.

All of the ideas clarified above serve as the basis for “imaginal indulgence.”

Performing Imaginal Indulgence

The title of this section is wrong.

You do not “perform” imaginal indulgence.

You surrender to it.

And, to surrender to imaginal indulgence, think of something you really, really want.

It could be anything.

A food you wish to enjoy.

Or, perhaps, a trip to Malaysia.

A new job, even.

And so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.

Right after you think of this thing, give yourself eleven minutes to imagine it.

To imagine the thing you desire.

During this period of imaginal indulgence, enjoy the sensory pleasures induced by your wish.

If you would like to visit Malaysia, imagine the sunlight flowing across your body.

Let yourself enjoy the cool winds piercing the veil of humidity you are experiencing.

Taste the nasi lemak while feeling the restaurant chair underneath you.

And so on and so forth.

Every act of imaginal indulgence you surrender to should evoke a very pure form of pleasure.

If you can surrender to this pleasure for at least a few minutes, you will enjoy the fulfillment of your desire.

The manner in which this desire will come forth may be unknown.

But, make no mistake: your wish will come to fruition.

And you, my friend, will enjoy, in this world, the imaginal pleasures you indulged in.

3 Examples Of Imaginal Indulgence

Our first example of imaginal indulgence involves living in Cambodia.

This example is for me.

To indulge in this experience, you can imagine your apartment.

You can imagine walking through your apartment.

Every single thing in your apartment is exactly how you wish for it to be.

You can imagine going to the Wake Park.

Swimming. Diving. Lounging.

You can imagine eating all of your favorite foods.

Enjoy the aroma, texture, flavor; and so on and so forth.

Our second example of imaginal indulgence involves getting a new job.

This example is also for me.

To indulge in this experience, you can imagine your paycheck.

You can imagine holding a fat stack of cash in your hand.

Give yourself a minute to count every bill.

Right after doing so, you can imagine enjoying this money.

You can imagine eating out. You can imagine going out to the movies. You can imagine Amazon packages.

And so on and so forth.

Focus on the things that bring you a great deal of pleasure.

Enjoy the pleasures that these things evoke.

Our third example of imaginal indulgence involves eating at a fancy restaurant.

To indulge in this experience, you can imagine sitting at your table.

Witness the food being placed onto your table.

Feel yourself holding the silverware.

Enjoy every single bite.

Listen to yourself ask for the check.

Give yourself permission to enjoy the pleasures of this experience.

Conclusion

Just to wrap this up, thank you for reading!

My hope is that this idea helps you attain all of the things you yearn for.

Best wishes and have a great day!
