How To Get Things Done With Ease, Speed, And Pleasure

Our essay is about getting things done.

Getting things done in an easy, fun way.

A series of rituals that will allow you to get things done in an easy, fun way.

And, with that, let’s begin.

Our Purpose Is To Be Generative

One of my favorite New Thought writers is a man named “Mitch Horowitz.”

Mitch Horowitz is a wonderful writer who has had a deep impact on my own perspectives.

Out of all the notions and practices that Horowitz has shared, though, my personal favorite remains this: our purpose in life is to be generative.

To be generative in the ways that only we can be generative.

To create. To give. To share. To produce.

You know, that sort of thing.

Is this true?

Eh, maybe it is. Maybe it isn’t.

Regardless of whether it’s true or not, though, it resonates with me.

Resonates with me so very much, as my happiest times are those when creative stories and essays, among other such things, are being produced in a state of pleasurable creativity.

Right now, there are so many stories and essays just waiting to be written.

And, with that, there are so many songs and games and films and other creative works just waiting to be born.

Outside of the more standard “creative works,” there are also various other projects just waiting to be turned into a tangible fact.

My purpose in life may, very well, be to bring each one of those to life.

To turn my visions and conceptions into something tangible.

Your purpose may be similar or, perhaps, the same.

But, of course, your purpose is your purpose and, as such, my words mean little in this regard.

Returning to my purpose — which, again, may be your purpose — bringing these visions to life requires time.

But, it doesn’t just require time.

Rather, it requires the wise, productive use of time.

A certain measure of concentration and flow is required.

So, the question becomes, how can we best use our time?

And, within that question, there is yet another question: what can we do to focus and flow and create what we wish to create in an easy, pleasurable manner?

You can come up with a wealth of answers to both questions.

The answers below are not definitive. And, in a way, they aren’t even answers; they’re rituals that are, in and of themselves, questions.

By asking these questions — engaging with these rituals — you allow yourself to concentrate.

To concentrate and create.

Some of them will work for you and allow for easy, pleasurable creation.

Some of them may not work for you very well.

No matter what, though, my hope is that you engage with these rituals and, if nothing else, see what happens.

You may find that creating what you wish to create — and, of course, “getting things done” — is much easier and much more pleasurable than it is without these rituals.

Or, that might not be the case.

You won’t know until you give it a shot!

Clean Your Space

Right before writing an essay, story, or, well, anything else, my space is cleared.

Or, rather, I take the time to clean my space.

Since my space — my bedroom, in truth — is always pretty clean, my cleaning ritual is simple and consists of the following actions:

  • Tidying Up My Bed
  • Sweeping The Floor
  • Wiping Down My Desk

And, to wrap it up, I pour myself a glass of ice water. There’s something pleasing about a glass of ice water sitting on a clean desk in an extra-clean space.

Work Out For 3-Minutes

A good, yet brief, work-out serves many purposes. Some of the most notable purposes include:

  • Strengthening Your Body
  • Reducing Stress
  • Reducing Anxiety
  • Raising Your Energy

The last purpose is especially notable for this section.

You see, when we begin any project, it helps to do so in an energetic state.

A state composed of the energy that we need to succeed.

To succeed in bringing our vision to life, regardless of what that may be.

Right before you begin your work, take three-minutes to work out.

Some push-ups and sit-ups are more than enough.

Or, you can lift weights, do some squats, go on a quick run; anything you want to do, so long as it strengthens you and energizes you.

Take 11 Deep Breaths

Deep breathing is a transformative act.

A transformative act that pushes out old air and brings in new air.

And, in doing so, raises your energy levels and creates enthusiasm.

No, not just enthusiasm; energy and enthusiasm and inspiration and focus and concentration.

You can, within these states, create all that you desire.

All that you desire, with remarkable ease.

Ease and joy. Joy and pleasure. Pleasure and productivity.

All of this applies to the act of, say, writing or painting or drawing.

And, in turn, it also applies to imagining and conjuring our desires.

But, that is another essay, for another time.

Confine Yourself To The Freedom Of One Task

The act of focusing on a single task is an act of confinement.

You are confining your infinite creative power to a single task.

And yet, in confining yourself to one task, you create freedom.

You give yourself the freedom to immerse yourself in a single task and, in doing so, you are free to enjoy a limitless wealth of possibilities.

Each one of these possibilities relates to the task at hand.

To the task at hand and the infinite gifts found in accomplishing this task.

But, that’s not all.

You allow the infinite gifts that exist right outside of this task to come forth.

All manner of paths and possibilities come forth with remarkable ease, allowing for success and achievement, as well as new projects adjacent to your current task to arise with ease.

And, well, you get the gist of it.

By focusing on a single task, you allow yourself to exist within a moment.

A moment that is one possibility and an infinite possibility.

Conclusion

Each one of these rituals is powerful and effective.

My hope is that this essay serves as a relatively clear, if bizarre, clarification of this fact.

Regardless of whether it is or isn’t, though, thank you so much for reading!
