Heaven Is A State Of Being

You have probably heard the saying, or some variation of it, “Let’s make Heaven a place on earth”. There’s a good chance you’ve heard another saying, quite similar to that one, which goes something like “Heaven is a place on earth”.

Both of those statements are equally true. They both reflect something very beautiful; our natural aspiration to make our lives, and the lives of others, as wondrous as they can be, and our inner knowing that Heaven is as much a state of being as it is a place.

The truth is, in my experience, dual-sided. As human beings, we should strive to make this world a Heaven. But, we should also recognize that Heaven is a state of being, perhaps first and foremost, and it is a state of being that we can conjure and enter.

Entering Heaven — or, perhaps, the state of Heaven — is, in my experience, quite easy. There’s really only one challenge that makes entering the state of Heaven difficult. And, this challenge is, quite simply, that very few of us know what Heaven feels like. Since we don’t know what Heaven feels like, we are unable to enter the state of Heaven.

Your Own Personal Heaven

Everyone has certain activities and experiences that, when engaged with, evoke feelings of incredible joy, bliss, passion, enthusiasm, gratitude, and love.

Those feelings all coalesce, forming a state — not “the state”, since it’s different for everybody — of Heaven.

All we must do, then, to enter a state of Heaven, is to know what evokes such feelings and to do those things as often as we possibly can.

But, of course, before we can do those things, we must know what those things are. Because, if we don’t know what those things are, then we can’t possibly do them and experience the extraordinary Heaven that arises from the feelings they evoke.

For me, finding what lead to my own state of Heaven was quite easy. All I did was take out a small notebook and think about my favorite things to do. These were things like reading a great work of fiction, writing a good essay, petting my cats, petting my dogs, taking a nice walk during a quiet and warm night, laughing at something so much that I am having trouble breathing, being engaged in a lovely conversation; along with so many other wonderful experiences.

There is a good chance that, if you take out a notebook and contemplate your most beloved activities and experiences, you will come up with ideas extremely easily. All you must do, during this process, is be receptive and then write out what comes to you.

Everything that you write, assuming that you write from a place of sincerity and receptivity, is valuable. So valuable, in fact, that if you do one of those things — or a few of them — for just thirty-minutes every single-day, you will transform your mood, attitude, and wellbeing.

Entering The State Of Heaven

Right after you know what it is that makes you feel truly alive, the only thing that’s left to do is to go and do those things.

You may be very busy, you may not have a lot of time, and you may not have a lot of energy. That’s okay, though. All that’s required is ten-minutes, maybe twenty-minutes, to do one or two of those things. You don’t even need to do that all at once, if you are unable to.

Remember, though, if you have less time than that, then even just five-minutes will work wonders. The important thing is to engage with something that you love, and to let those good feelings arise.

By taking the time to enter a state of Heaven, you will engage with an act that is meaningful and profound. Doing so will have an extraordinary effect on your mood, attitude, and, in many ways, the direction of your life.

Rather than being confined to states and habits of relative inertia, neutrality, and dissatisfaction, you will be making a daily habit of feeling excellent and being in a heavenly state of being.

Within my experience, this has the profound effect of enhancing my creativity, enhancing the love that I feel, and allowing me to see opportunities and possibilities that I never knew existed.

But, beyond all of that, being in a state of Heaven is fun, and if there’s one thing we all need, it’s a little more fun.
