Glimmers & Glimpses Of The Forgotten & Ignored
Moments of quiet stillness are valuable. For it is within these moments that we’re given the opportunity to settle our mind and body, while also engaging with the ignored — and, sometimes, forgotten — aspects of our lives, our deepest desires, and who we are as individuals.
Stillness & Emergence
Taking some time for yourself — to be quiet and still — is not always easy. Many of us live busy lives that are filled to the brim with obligations, commitments, activities, and distractions.
Living a life, of the sort mentioned, is common and valuable. Our lives are meant to be lived, and fulfilling commitments while pursuing activities is one of the most valuable things that we can do.
But, sometimes, the act of being still, and saying very little, is more important than pursuing action and motion.
You see, within moments of deep relaxation, when you are free of the various burdens weighing upon your mind and body, innumerable treasures and gifts can emerge.
The treasures and gifts that can — and often do — emerge tend to be immaterial. Rather, they tend to consist of realizations, minor revelations, observations, and questions.
Engaging with these treasures — pondering a particular observation or thinking about a question; among other forms of engagement — gives way to greater gifts and treasures.
The gifts and treasures that emerge are often those that enhance your life, and the lives of those around you.
You see, the gifts and treasures that emerge in moments of quiet stillness are those that pertain to who you are and who you truly wish to be and become.
All that you must know about yourself exists right now.
A few moments of quiet stillness are all that’s needed for this knowledge, and the many treasures and gifts this knowledge may bestow, to come forth, is a little bit of quiet time, with yourself, as well as some patience.
Meditating On The Ignored
All across the spaces etched within your own moments of quiet stillness, glimmers and glimpses of the ignored will come to the center of your experience.
Glimmers and glimpses of forgotten passions, important wishes that you chose to ignore or forget for any number of reasons, treasured memories you had lost sight of, unfortunate memories you wish you had lost sight of; as well as many other fragments belonging to you and the life that you are living.
As soon as one of those glimmers and glimpses catches your mind — a forgotten passion, a lost memory, a wish you chose to ignore long ago — follow it.
Follow that glimmer or glimpse. Let that glimmer or glimpse take you somewhere.
More often than not, your glimmer or glimpse will take you somewhere very special. A place of authenticity and truth. A place of meaning and truth.
A place that is you and, yet, is but a part of you; a part of you that’s been ignored.
Moments of quiet stillness enable that which you value, yet have ignored, to emerge with tremendous ease.
Moving Into A Moment Of Quiet Stillness
The easiest way to move into a moment of quiet stillness is as follows; take care of all your obligations and commitments for the day, go into a place that you feel safe and comfortable in, and then sit down.
As soon as you sit down, make a conscious effort to breathe, relax, and enjoy the moment. Doing so will make it far easier for that which needs to emerge to emerge.
To make this a little easier for yourself, you can go outside. Assuming it is nice outside, take a moment to notice the beauty of nature, the light of the sun, the sounds of nature; as well as any of the other wondrous qualities that nature possesses.
Just give yourself a little time and a little patience.
If you do this, I promise you that what comes forth will be of great value.
Just about everything we need to know — about ourselves, who we are, and what we need to do — is available right here and right now.
You just need to listen.
