Giving Yourself The Gift Of A Great Day

Our subject today is “energy.”

Or, more specifically, being energized and enjoying a day rich with enthusiasm and energy.

Rather than clarifying the specifics of energy and enthusiasm, you will find several practices below.

Several practices that, when applied, allow you harness your inner enthusiasm, inspiration, and energy, so as to enjoy a rich, vibrant day.

A rich, vibrant day where everything you want to accomplish is accomplished and everything you want to enjoy is enjoyed.

A rich, vibrant day that is, in the end, a great day.

A great day that offers everything you need/want in a great day, as well as so much more!

Go To Bed With A Smile

Your day begins the night before.

Right before you go to sleep, you set the tone of your sleep, the texture of your dreams, and the mood of your day.

Or, at least, that’s what some people say.

Even if this notion isn’t entirely accurate, it appears to be true, within my own life.

Given this, it helps to sleep well.

To sleep well and, before that, go to bed well.

For you to accomplish this, there’s two things you can do.

Two things you can do that will allow you to not only sleep well, but to enjoy a sense of peace and appreciation while doing so.

Both of these sensibilities will allow you to wake up in a pleasant manner.

A pleasant manner conducive to the energy and enthusiasm you are choosing to experience.

The first thing you can do is to take a few deep breaths.

Just five or six or seven — okay, whichever number works for you — breaths is enough.

Breathe in. Hold for a few seconds. Breathe out.

Trust me, it works. It works even if you don’t think it will work.

Right after that, as you’re lying in bed or about to, smile.

Just smile and hold your smile.

Smiling offers many, many benefits and each one of these benefits allow for a peaceful, nurturing sleep that allows you to wake up in a way that guarantees a lovely day.

So, just smile. Just smile and breathe or breathe and smile.

It’s quick, easy, and it works.

Clarifying Your Goals

Every single day is composed of goals.

Some of these goals may not appear to be goals — sweeping your room, if you do it every day, may not appear to be a goal — but they are, in the end, goals.

Or, perhaps, tasks and intentions that, despite their seeming lack of importance, serve a purpose.

Right before you go to bed, it helps to clarify your goals.

Rather than clarifying the things that you “Need To Do,” you can also clarify the things you want to do.

You can clarify “Going On A Nice Walk” or “Writing The First Page Of A Book” or “Watching A Good Film”; and so on and so forth.

Clarifying your goals, no matter what they may be, creates a space.

A space for your goals to exist as they are — moments of creativity, enjoyment, pleasure, and peace; among other things — and a space for you to engage with them.

To engage with them and to enjoy them.

Really, what all of this means is that, when you write down your goals, you are prioritizing them.

And, you are also clarifying the things you want to do, making a plan to do so, which is exciting.

It’s exciting to do the things you want to do and to know what those are.

To wake up knowing the fun things you want to do and excited to enjoy those fun things.

Don’t get me wrong, you certainly don’t need to do this everyday. Or, at all, for that matter.

If you do decide to do this, though, it can be fun. And, it can also give you something to focus on and work towards, if you feel aimless or lethargic.

Say “Thank You” Before/After A Task

Our attitude towards specific tasks and goals tends to be what defines them.

Just as an example, if you see sweeping your room as a “Waste Of Time,” sweeping your room will probably evoke an assortment of less-than-productive feelings/sensations.

Rather than existing within those habits, though, you can try something else.

You can take a task that you aren’t particularly fond of, or that you’re nervous about, and say “Thank you.”

Just say “Thank you” and, then, imagine, in whatever form you like, that task has gone well.

You can imagine yourself working on that task and smiling, feeling good, getting it done with ease.

Or, you can imagine yourself having done that thing and feeling good about how easy and pleasant it was.

You can, of course, accomplish this in other ways. It’s your choice.

No matter what, though, say “Thank you” for both the task and the fact that it brought you something nice.

Something nice, such as enjoyment, comfort, peace, pleasure; and so on and so forth.

A little appreciation goes a long way, even if it feels forced.

Diving Into Your Limitless Creativity

No matter who you are, or what you believe yourself to be, you are creative.

You are a creative being who possesses limitless creative power.

Our goal, as human beings, is to be creative.

To be creative in the ways that resonate with us.

And, in being creative, to enjoy our creativity.

To enjoy who we are and what we are.

Every single day of our lives should contain a few creative moments.

A few moments of genuine creativity.

Your creativity differs from someone else’s creativity.

You may enjoy coming up with designs for interior spaces. You may enjoy creating elaborate plans for specific goals. You may enjoy coming up with stories.

And so on and so forth.

No matter the form your creativity takes, please, allow it to take form.

Set aside some time to be creative.

To exist within your creativity and to play within your creativity.

A few simple, pleasant moments of pure creative exploration and/or play are enough to conjure the energy, enthusiasm, and inspiration necessary to turn “Another Day” into “A Great Day.”

Conclusion

Our lives are made of days

Many, many days, some of which will be great, and some of which will be, well, less-than-great.

Even if this is the case, we possess the power to turn many of our days, if not all of them, into great days.

The act of giving ourselves a great day is easy and, as such, it’s always worth doing.

My hope is that you use the practices in this essay. My hope is that these practices give birth to a wealth of great days.

A wealth of great days that you enjoy, appreciate, and, perhaps, remember for years to come.

Regardless of the outcome, though, thank you so much for reading!
