Drinking From Your Ocean

Every state of being/sensation/feeling/emotion is available to you right now.

Right now, within this moment, you can command:

  • Inspiration
  • Enthusiasm
  • Creativity
  • Confidence
  • Energy
  • Joy
  • Possibility
  • Motivation
  • Passion
  • Youthfulness

And so on and so forth.

Each one of these sensibilities, as it were, is available to you right now.

But, unfortunately, it’s easy to lose sight of what is, forgetting that what can be is both far greater than what is and, in many cases, far more desirable.

The “Drinking From Your Ocean” gratitude game — strange title, I know — will allow you to harness the forces of appreciation, so that you can enter the sensibility you crave.

Drinking From Your Ocean

Every sensibility exists right now.

Right now, every sensibility is accessible to you.

But, where can you find these sensibilities?

You can find them within an ocean.

A vast, infinite ocean; no beginning and no end.

And, where is this ocean?

Right within you.

Right within your limitless imagination.

You can drink from this ocean and, in drinking from this ocean, enter the sensibility you desire.

All you must do is see, and feel, this ocean.

And, then, you must drink from this ocean.

You must drink from this ocean, all while appreciating its limitless gifts.

Right before we dive into this, admittedly rather strange, game, there’s a story that may offer some value.

A Story From My Own Life

On a warm July night, within my parent’s home in Portland, Oregon, something was amiss.

No, not really, actually.

But, at the same time, yes.

You see, a kind of lethargy and, perhaps, aimlessness had come over me.

Some of this could be blamed on the heat. But, the wind and pleasant, cool air were picking up, yet there was no desire to move and no conception of where to go.

I wanted to be inspired and enthusiastic about something.

A writing project, perhaps.

Or, perhaps, an idea; something unique and fun, rich with possibilities.

Rather than trying my usual methods — just writing and trying, often with little in the way of what is desired — I decided to try something a little different.

Just as you might imagine, I chose to imagine a vast, infinite ocean.

The ocean was, in my mind, an “ocean of inspiration.”

Drinking from this ocean would conjure the desired inspiration.

And, within this inspiration, there would be enthusiasm, passion, excitement, energy; among other gifts.

I imagined the ocean and, then, I drank from it.

Right as I was drinking from this ocean, I appreciated both the presence of the ocean and the presence of inspiration, as well as the gifts of this inspiration.

And, right after I drank from this ocean, making sure to feel the water and energy flow through me, I said “Thank you” and opened my eyes.

Just an hour or so later, I received an idea.

A unique idea for a guide that would assist people in living rich, abundant lives.

The idea was, in fact, for this guide.

And, soon after receiving this idea, a wealth of other, related, ideas came to me.

Each one of these ideas serves as the foundation for a guide book and its contents.

How Do You Play The “Drinking From Your Ocean” Game?

To play the “Drinking From Your Ocean” game, you can conduct the following actions:

  • Close your eyes
  • Imagine a vast, infinite ocean.
  • Conjure, within your Mind’s Eye, a cup.
  • Go into the ocean and fill up the cup.
  • Drink from the cup and, as you do so, feel the water and energy flowing through you.
  • Appreciate the sensibility you will soon experience.

And, well, that’s about it!

None of what comprises this game is meant to be overly specific or rigid.

Rather, this is as much a creative game as a gratitude game.

You can, and should, imagine what feels right for you, while appreciating the presence of the sensibility you are choosing to experience.
