A Taste-Making Game

Our deepest, most vital needs can be pleasurable.

And, truly, they should be pleasurable.

Sleep should be an act of pleasure, creation, and serenity.

You can say the same thing regarding eating.

Eating should be an act of satisfaction, pleasure, and sensuality.

Our concern is not, solely, with this notion.

Rather, our concern is with taste.

The taste of food.

No, that is not true, either; my apologies.

Our concern is with taste-making and, in turn, the creative richness within this act.

You can find, within the two sections outlined below, a game.

A game you can use to come up with new, fun tastes.

Really, it’s all quite fun and silly.

Right after that, you can find a game that, in embracing the first game, allows you to come up with unique stories.

To come up with unique stories in a manner that is easy, fun, and rewarding.

So, with all of that in mind, let’s dive right in!

A Taste-Making Game

To begin our taste-making game, you must select a food.

And, then, you must select another food.

Right after you complete those two steps, you combine the two foods.

Just as an example, if you combine a candy bar with fried chicken, you might get: a piece of fried chicken — or, at least, an item that looks like fried chicken — that is made of thick milk chocolate.

You can, and should, come up with at least three new foods, as a result of this combination.

Given the above, this taste-making game is less of a taste-making game and more of a, well, food-making game.

On the other hand, though, you do not need to be bound to stand-alone foods.

Rather, you can combine tastes, textures, aesthetics, shapes; and so on and so forth.

If you combine the taste of fried chicken with milk chocolate, you get…fried, salty, and, even, spicy, milk chocolate.

Or, at least, something to that effect.

Something Extra

On its own, the game outlined above is fine.

Or, at least, it’s close to that; it’s flexible and silly and rich with potential.

Even though the above is true, we can, and should, add something extra.

So, that is what we’re doing.

The “something extra” we are going to add is nothing less than a story.

Or, more specifically, a storytelling component.

You create a new food.

Or, for that matter, a new taste or texture; and so on and so forth.

And, then, you consider who you might be, if you ate one of these items.

Or, what might go into creating it.

You can also consider who you might be, if you actually invented such an item.

And so on and so forth; many other questions can, and arguably should, be embraced.

If you can embrace these questions you will be led to all manner of unique stories.

Stories that you can and, if you feel so inclined, should tell.

3 Examples

You can find three examples of the games outlined above right below.

Or, more specifically, three examples of the games we outlined above being played.

And, with that fact in mind, let’s begin:

  • A combination of a milk chocolate bar and a high-protein salad leads to an energy bar that contains a wealth of proteins and nutrients.
  • A combination of the shape of a milk chocolate bar, with a salad, leads to a chocolate bowl that is made of milk chocolate and is meant to contain chocolate cereal.
  • A combination of the taste of a salad with the taste of cheese, leads to a watery cheese that is rich with a bacon, ranch, and lettuce flavor.

None of the above happens to be particularly compelling. But, it was fun to make!

Outside of that, you can find three examples of the storytelling game we outlined earlier right below:

  • A high-powered energy bar, with a rich wealth of protein, is eaten by a young woman who is wandering through an abandoned laboratory within a mountain, in search of a strange device.
  • A unique machine that serves to combine anything and to produce a wealth of combinations, no matter what you input into the machine.
  • A rather peculiar inventor who is obsessed with chemicals and sensations, so much so that they developed an imaginal technique that allows them to enter, and experience, chemicals and sensations.

None of the stories clarified above are particularly compelling. But, they are unique and, well, there is potential!
