A Single Idea Contains An Infinity
Our goal, with this essay, is to clarify a notion.
A notion that allows you to access a neverending universe.
A neverending universe of creativity, possibility, imagination, play; and so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
Or, at least, that is my assertion.
You can read this essay. You can experiment with this notion.
And, in doing so, you can see if my assertion is correct.
A Single Idea Contains An Infinity
Right before we clarify our central notion, there is one other, related notion to clarify.
And, this notion is as follows: counter space.
Or, more specifically, it is what counter space means.
You see, counter space is a notion, rooted within the work of Rudolf Steiner, that goes beyond traditional geometry.
Rather than containing, or relying upon, traditional geometrical points, counter space contains geometrical points that open inwards, folding deeper and deeper into itself, into infinity.
A single point, within a counter space body, leads to infinity.
Our assertion, then, is that the entirety of our world — this vast, infinite world of ideas and concepts and notions and things; ad infinitum — is rooted within an infinitude of points that exist within a counterspace geometry.
Or, at least, something to that effect.
Just as an example, every single idea folds inwards, leading to an infinitude of new, yet related, ideas and possibilities and paths and potentials and concepts; and so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
And, every single unique thing is connected, linked to, related to — ad infinitum — an infinitude of other things, types of things, possibilities, paths, concepts, notions; and so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
Every single one of those things — paths and possibilities, to name two examples — is, in and of itself, an infinite wealth of infinities; a neverending wealth of possibilities, paths, potentials, concepts, ideas, notions, paracosms; and so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
Our goal, with the remainder of this essay, is to explore the richness of this notion.
To explore the ways in which you can use this notion to live a truly rich, abundant life.
3 Quick Examples
You can explore this notion in many ways. But, right away, the easiest way to explore such a notion is to consider a single idea and the ways in which that idea is connected to other ideas.
Right now, consider “gratitude,” as an idea.
You can find, within the counter space that is gratitude, an infinitude of different notions, connections, links; and so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
Just as an example, one of these different notions is the idea of saying “Thank you” and, then, that can lead to “Thanksgiving” and “holidays” and “the ways in which we use ritual to center our lives” followed by, perhaps, the “infinite flexibility/possibilities of rituals” and this might lead to us creating our own unique rituals.
And so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
Yet another, related, notion is “gratitude games.”
Right now, this concept is one of my favorites. And, come to think of it, it has been for a while.
You can dive into “gratitude games,” as a notion, and find notions of “feeling it real,” “the power of emotions and feelings,” “games as systems and structures,” “our lives as systems of rules and habits,” “transcending our systems and rules and habits,” “experience design” and, well, you get the idea; ad infinitum.
Outside of the above, you can continue to explore and wander, diving into those individual ideas and notions — ad infinitum — allowing for an infinite abundance of new possibilities, potentials, and paths; ad infinitum.
Our third, and final, example, is this particular concept.
Or, at least, the core element of this concept that suggests, and allows for, infinite connections, associations, and links; and so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
You can play with this element and, in doing so, it can lead to notions of “all things being connected,” “everything springs from a single source,” notions of the “Akashic Records” and “Holographic Universe,” as well as the “infinite creativity that our universe is grown from.”
On its own, these are fine. But, if you give yourself some time to play with an idea, and to explore the things that it leads to, you will find that the world is infinitely more rich, and vast, than you can ever truly know.
You Can Play With This Idea
Right before we dive into three ways you can use this idea, to live a truly rich, abundant life, there is one thing to know about me and my attraction to this idea: it’s infinitely vast and, as such, it’s really fun.
Or, at least, it’s really fun, to me.
Outside of that, though, this idea does offer a vast — infinite, we’ll say — wealth of applications and uses and practical possibilities; ad infinitum.
And, with that in mind, the first way you can play with this idea, in a manner that leads to practical applications, is to explore a particular idea and, then, to come up with — or find, if you will — ten adventures this idea allows for.
Or, if not adventures, then ten experiences, journeys, quests, experiments; and so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
You can learn more about these ideas right here.
Outside of that, though, the easiest way to do this is to take an idea, to think about three things it makes you think of or is related to — among an infinite wealth of other possibilities; ad infinitum — and, then, to use those as inspiration.
You can then think of a few adventures related to those things. Or, a few adventures related to the combination of those things and, in turn, what they make you think of.
Just as an example, “gratitude games” and “feeling it real”
And, well, you get the idea.
The second way you can play with this idea is to set a theme.
Or, for that matter, a focal point, a goal, a topic; and so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
And, with your chosen theme in mind, you can find associations, connections, links, and ideas — ad infinitum — that relate to what it is that you are exploring.
Just as an example, you might be exploring “play.” And, your theme might be “art.”
Right within this theme, you can explore “the ways in which you can bring play into making art,” “play as a primary source — or, even, the sole source — of art,” “art and play as the source of much of our world,” “using play for inspiration and enthusiasm and new ideas; ad infinitum,” and, even, “ways of playing to evoke those feelings” and even,” the power of feeling it real.”
And so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
Come to think of it, the above method is, in effect, a synthesis.
A synthesis between two related — or, in other contexts, unrelated — ideas.
And, well, this lead to a third way you can play with this — one extra; we’ll go up to four — which is to combine the thing you are exploring with at least one more thing.
Or, on the other hand, diving into that thing and, then, combining one thing with what arises.
Just as an example, if “gratitude games” leads to “feeling it real,” then you can combine that with, say, “microbiology” and, well, that leads to an infinite wealth of cool ideas, possibilities, paths, concepts; and so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
Yet another example is diving or going into or exploring — ad infinitum, of course — “play” and “feeling it real,” which, in this context, can lead to a vast wealth of new methodologies, tools, games, systems — ad infinitum — for playing and feeling it real and achieving, attracting, manifesting, bringing forth — ad infinitum — desires and intentions and experiences; and so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
And, well, you get the idea.
Our fourth way is to ask a question.
Or, for that matter, a series of questions; choose what works for you.
You can ask any question. And, the questions available to you are infinite.
Just as an example, though, you might ask “What can we accomplish with play?” — if, of course, you are exploring play — and this might lead to what play can — somewhat antithetically — accomplish.
Right after that, you can ask questions about that.
Or, you can ask further questions, such as “How are play and accomplishments related?”
And so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
Our fifth way is to conduct a simple visualization exercise.
You can take some deep breaths. And, then, you can relax.
You can imagine your central idea or point of focus or, well, whatever it is you’re exploring, as a tree.
A tree with an infinite number of branches.
Every single one of these branches is connected to an infinite number of sub-branches.
And so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
You can imagine moving across one branch and, then, stepping onto another branch.
And, then, another, followed by another; and so on and so forth.
If you do this right — it isn’t easy, it must be said — certain ideas will arise with remarkable ease.
Just as an alternative, you can also create a mind map. This will allow you to break down ideas and explore them in a manner that combines writing with visuals and, in my experience, such a combination allows new, unexpected ideas to arise with remarkable ease.
Our sixth, and actually final, way — this is a bonus, of course; the inspiration just keeps flowing — is to describe.
Or, rather, to describe, in as much detail as you can — or, really, in any way you like — what you are exploring.
And, you can describe what you are exploring with a richness of detail and possibility, connecting all manner of ideas to itself, allowing for an entire world within an infinity of worlds to arise.
Or, well, something like that.
Right after you do this, you can then dive into the description you’ve created, allowing new associations, connections, links, possibilities, ideas — ad infinitum — to arise, regarding elements of your description.
You can explore all of those. Or, just some of them.
And, to explore these, you can apply the four other ways we’ve outlined right above.
A Riff On Infinity
Our most recent essays have been centered on infinity.
Given this fact — and, given the fact that this essay is also centered on infinity — it feels fair to riff on infinity.
Or, rather, to riff on the infinite infinities of this particular concept.
You can go into a single set of connections, within a concept, for 100,000,000,000,000,000 bodies, all of which contain 100,000,000,000,000 years.
And, you can plex these — adding that number of zeroes to the end of the number, thereby creating a new number — at infinite speeds and rates, within infinite moments, allowing for infinitely larger bodies of time to arise.
Or, alternatively, you can go into a single set of possibilities or questions or exploratory paths or journeys or experiments or paths of inquiry — ad infinitum; it just keeps going and growing; ad infinitum — for a period of 100,000,000,000,000 infinite information structures each containing, and growing, infinite conceptions and visions — ad infinitum — of transcendent infinities, endlessnesses, eternities — ad infinitum — that go beyond time and space — ad infinitum — and, even, then you would never, ever reach the end or any limits; ad infinitum.
And, well, you get the idea; ad infinitum.
Yet another example — our third, and final, one, for now — is that of going into the infinite sets and series and lists — ad infinitum — of adventures that a single connection to, and within, an idea can allow for.
You can go into such a set for, say, 100,000,000,000,000,000 bodies of 100,000,000,000,000,000,000 bodies, plexed to itself for that same number of times, across infinite eternities and bodies of eternities and fractal recursions of eternities and greater forms of eternities — ad infinitum — and, well, never reach the end.
Even if you went through all of these periods of time and functions and notions — ad infinitum — you would never reach the end, or any limits, to any of the things that we’ve outlined right above.
Just allow yourself to digest that.
Or, if you’re like me, allow yourself to really, really enjoy that.
And, right before we truly sign off, there is one more fun thing to clarify.
You can imagine 100,000,000,000,000,000 bodies.
Every single one of these bodies contains infinite quantities and containers and collections — ad infinitum — of, well, anything that you are exploring or engaging with; ad infinitum.
Just as an example, if you’re exploring the synthesis of “play” and “feeling it real,” then these bodies might contain infinite quantities, containers, and collections — ad infinitum — of new, related ideas.
You can then “plex” these infinite quantities, containers, and collections which, in this rather paradoxical context, allows for an infinite wealth of new, greater, conceptions and visions and paracosms — ad infinitum — of quantities and containers and collections — ad infinitum — to arise.
Each of which, within this context, contains even greater, more vast, abundances of ideas.
And, well, you get the idea; ad infinitum.
