A Secret Passion

No matter who you are, you possess a passion.

Or, perhaps, a passion possesses you. Maybe it works both ways.

Regardless of that little detail, though, you possess a passion.

A passion that gives you a sense of joy and fulfillment, while also giving life a greater level of meaning and you a greater sense of abundance.

You probably possess more than one passion, since life’s riches are infinite and, as such, cannot be contained within just one personal passion.

Many of us are, on some level, open about our passions.

Or, at least, that’s the case for me. You may, in fact, be rather guarded, when it comes to your passions, which is understandable.

Even though many of us — or, just myself — are open about our passions, we also enjoy keeping one or two of our passions private, away from prying eyes.

No one will deny that passion is a beautiful thing. Even so, though, some passions seem better, and far more beautiful, than others.

The reasons for this are multifaceted.

Some passions are, in the eyes of others, frivolous, silly, unhealthy, fantastical, deluded, wasteful, irritating — and so on and so forth.

Even if, in the eyes of others, your passions are those things, this does not negate the joy and value, among other thing, such passions bring to you.

The joy and value of your passions is deeply profound.

You see, not only are such feelings wonderful, for you, but they are wonderful for others, as well.

A radiant light, emanating from within, radiates outward, towards others, bringing them a sense of joy, peace, ease — among other such feelings — that cannot help but begin to emanate from them, as well, and so on and so forth.

Every passion is capable of bringing forth a happier, more loving, world, for passion brings forth happier, more loving, people.

Or, at least, that’s my thought.

I might be wrong. But, passion is a special thing

My intention, with this short essay, is to share one of my passions with you.

A rather silly passion that, to almost everyone who knows me, is secret.

Even though this is a silly, rather fantastical, passion, it never fails to spark joy and creativity within me. This sense of joy and creativity has, in turn, lead to a great mood, as well as inspiration for plenty of creative projects, some of which were published on this blog.

So, with all of that being said, let’s dive in!

A Passion For Vast Concepts

Out of all the concepts that exist — a neverending abundance, most likely — one of the most inspiring, to me, is that of the Infinite.

Something about the Infinite just makes me feel so inspired, so excited, so blissful — and so on and so forth — that creativity is an inevitable byproduct.

My passion for the Infinite is significant. But, at the same time, it’s only part of the story.

You see, the Infinite, on its own, is a passion of mine, and a very inspiring one.

Just on its own, though, the Infinite is rather abstract and, while tangible to some degree, removed from many of the aspects that define our daily lives.

When you combine the Infinite with a variety of other concepts, though, then things become very, very interesting.

So much so, that the majority of my work is rooted in my playful exploration with the Infinite.

Some of my favorite ways of playing with the Infinite involve finding the things, in our lives, that are creative and pleasurable, yet vast and infinite in the possibilities they allow for.

For a long time, my focus was on technology; the infinite abundance of programs that could be created, for example, as well as the endless possibilities of those programs.

Soon enough, my focus turned to writing, along with other forms of creative work, as well as the infinite possibilities found within writing.

Right around this same time, my focus turned to our own limitless creative abilities, and the ways in which we can harness our creative abilities to live the life we wish to live.

Such a task — living the life we wish to live — allows for, as you might expect, a neverending abundance of unique, and enchanting, possibilities.

Sometime after this, my passions shifted to the unique ways in which we can harness our creative abilities, such as through our inner conversations and imaginal scenes.

Right around this same time, my interest expanded to include the ways in which we can define such actions — investing, for example, or play; both are valid and unique — which, as you might expect, possess an infinite range of possibilities when it comes to their expression and engagement.

The focal point of my passion is, perhaps, rooted in the Infinite. But, that is not my true passion.

Rather, my passion is vast ideas that suggest an infinite range of possibilities — and, perhaps, an infinite abundance of other such things — many of which are related to our own creative abilities.

Diving A Little Deeper

Just engaging with vast ideas is enormous fun.

For me, though, that’s just the first step.

The next step is far more enjoyable: creating, or discovering, the depths and possibilities within a particular idea that, as mentioned, is connected to the Infinite.

You take a single, very basic, concept — such as play — and, then, you play with the associations that come from that idea, as well as the definitions and possibilities present within the idea.

For me, this often involves considering the infinite possibilities of play — within this example, that is — and, then, considering the endless variations of the ways in which you can play with something specific, such as writing or your inherent creative abilities.

None of that sounds particularly coherent. But, the process possesses its own sense of order, as well as a tremendous sense of discovery.

Playing with these ideas is, in a way, just like creating — or discovering — a new, very unique, world that, while somewhat fictitious, allows for a unique set of perspectives and possibilities.

Many of the perspectives and possibilities found within these ideas make their way into essays and journal entries that explore practical themes and ideas.

Some of them make their way into the essays on this blog, such as my essays on “inner conversations” and “play”, along with various other methods and tools.

Conclusion

Even though this passion is such a significant part of my life, it is difficult for me to state why, exactly, it holds so much appeal.

Regardless of why it appeals to me, though, it remains a fun and rewarding way of play with some of my favorite things — the Infinite, for example — while exploring the creative abilities that we all, as human beings, possess.

My hope is that you enjoyed reading this essay and, as arrogant as this may sound, learning about my secret passion.

Even more than that, though, my greatest hope is that you were able to think of your own secret passion and, with that passion in mind, are able to set aside the time necessary to engage with that passion.
