A Hyper-Set
Our intention, with this essay, is sharing.
Sharing what?
Several ideas centered on the following notions:
- Sets.
- Infinity.
- Transcendence.
So, with that in mind, let’s begin!
The Concept Of A Set
A set is a collection of things.
Just as an example, if you have 187 different vinyl records, then you have a set of records.
You can turn one set into many different sets.
Returning to our first example, you can turn that set of records into eleven sets, grouped by musician.
Or, you can work with different criteria, such as the colors on the cover, musical genre, theme of the songs within the record; and so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
Everything can be a part of a set.
You can be a part of a set.
And, so can, say, your ideas, thoughts, feelings; ad infinitum, of course.
On another level, everything is, in fact, part of a set.
Part of many, many sets, in fact.
Our concern is not, solely, with these ideas.
Right before we move onto the focal point of this essay, imagine a set that contains everything.
Every single thing.
And, in turn, infinite things.
All ideas. All information. All places.
And so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
Right within this set, there are an infinite wealth of sets.
The set contains infinite sets.
But, there’s a slight problem: this set contains everything and, yet, it doesn’t contain itself.
Our set doesn’t contain itself and, as a result of this, it doesn’t contain everything.
To solve this problem, we must invent a new set.
A new set that contains the set of everything.
But, of course, this set can’t contain everything, either; it must contain itself which, well, isn’t possible.
Or, perhaps, it is, but not within the conceptual schema we are using.
Just meditate on that for a brief moment.
If you want, that is.
If you want.
A Hyper-Set
The focal point of our essay is a concept known as a “hyper-set.”
A hyper-set is a set that contains every single set in existence.
Right within these sets, there are, of course, an infinite wealth of things.
You can, as a result of this, find an infinite wealth of infinite sets — sets with infinite items, things, possibilities; ad infinitum — within a hyper-set.
On top of that, you can find, within a particular hyper-set, the hyper-set itself.
Strange, right?
Our conceptual schema of a hyper-set is rooted in the following notion: sets are concepts bound to our senses.
Or, more specifically, our own, innate limitations.
Somewhere out there, within the infinite Platonic realm we exist upon, there are sets.
Sets that exist beyond all of our innate limitations of perception, feeling, understanding; and so on and so forth.
You can envision these sets as three-dimensional holograms.
Right within these three-dimensional holograms, there are infinite bodies of pure light.
Every single body of pure light is an infinite sea of tangibility.
A neverending wealth of that which comprises the set.
Out of all these bodies of light, only one is the hyper-set itself.
A copy of the hyper-set.
But, also, the hyper-set.
Right within the hyper-set, there is, of course, the hyper-set.
A neverending recursion of presence.
And, then, near this body of light, there is another body.
The body of light, in question, is a hyper-set that, paradoxically, contains the hyper-set and another, larger, set that also contains the hyper-set and all that it contains, as well as that which it does not contain.
And so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
Upon entering this body of light, one finds all notions of dimensionality being stripped away.
Pure light.
And, then, something beyond the light.
Something beyond all things.
I am not sure what this is. But, what can be said, is that it goes beyond that which can be known.
Known by us, that is.
Known by us.
Conclusion
Just to wrap this up, thank you for reading.
Some of the ideas within this essay are incoherent.
Even so, my hope is that you enjoyed reading about them.
Best wishes and have a fantastic day!
