A Fun Idea For Our Library-Inventing Game
Our intention, with this essay, is clarifying.
Clarifying what?
A simple idea that you can use to play a game.
You can learn more about this game by reading “A Game For Inventing New Libraries.”
So, with that in mind, let’s begin!
The Power Of Focus
Our game is based on libraries.
Or, more specifically, inventing new libraries.
All of this is fine.
But, there is something quite nice, and slightly unusual, about this: libraries are just one focus.
Just one focus, out of an infinite wealth of other focuses.
Focuses. Perspectives. Interests. Goals. Intentions. Themes.
And so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
Just as an example, if you play the game, and focus on libraries, you will find/make new libraries.
All of this brings me to my next point.
Change Your Focus
You can change your focus from “libraries” to anything.
Just as an example, your focus might be “different devices within libraries.”
Or, “different types of libraries.”
You can even riff on the types of books within a library.
And so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
If you change your focus to “aspects of libraries,” then “Oceans” and “Photography” can lead to:
- A library with an ocean inside of it.
- A library that has large sets of photos, many of which focus on the ocean.
- A library with paintings of a forgotten ocean.
And so on and so forth, endlessly and infinitely; ad infinitum.
None of those are great. But, they’re all somewhat interesting.
You can, of course, dive into these. And, in doing so, find/make an infinite wealth of new ideas.
Just as an example, a library with an ocean inside of it that, somehow, generates books.
Or, at the very least, something to that effect.
Conclusion
Just to wrap this up, thank you for reading!
Best wishes and have a lovely day!
